Many Californians are interested in or involved in the commercial real estate market. A report by Forbes Insights that was commissioned by CIT may be of interest to them.

According to the report, executives in the commercial real estate industry are feeling generally positive about the state of the market, anticipating deal volumes that will exceed the industry average. The report is based upon a survey of 201 senior executives, brokers, lenders, attorneys and investors.

In the survey, 52 percent of those who responded said that they believed the particular segments in which they were working were either very strong or strong. At the same time, 44 percent of the executives also indicated that there are some segments that are at risk for substantial declines. Sixty percent of the respondents indicated they believed the current commercial real estate market is mixed, offering both strong opportunities and challenges. Most characterized their approaches as opportunistic. Nearly half of survey respondents said they believe that the commercial real estate market is in a period of recovery, and 48 percent said they believe that a Republican in the White House would have a positive impact on the marketplace.

Those who are interested in commercial real estate investments may want to discuss their plans with an attorney who has experience with these types of transactions. An attorney can often have insight about particular locations and types of properties that may have a chance of performing better than others. Legal counsel can also conduct a review of a proposed selection to see if there are any potential zoning issues that could be troublesome.
